Special mail-in ballot election for residents of Grand Island
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Registered voters in Grand Island will be receiving special election ballots in their mailbox soon. The City of Grand Island is holding a special election where voters are required to submit their responses by a mail-in ballot. Hall County residents should expect to receive their ballot on July 22, according to Hall County Elections Commissioner Tracy Overstreet.
Grand Island man sentenced for police chase, shutting himself in stranger’s bedroom
OMAHA, Neb. — A Grand Island man will spend a decade in prison for leading police on a chase and barricading himself inside a child’s room. On Wednesday, a federal judge sentenced 27-year-old Tesluach Gatkuoth to 10 years in prison for being a felon in possession of a gun. A U.S. Attorney’s Office news release says police officers tried to pull Gatkuoth over in Omaha for a traffic violation in 2022. The release says he sped away, eventually ditched his car and ran on foot and then broke into a family’s home.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The St. Francis Foundation presented 12 area first responders with checks Monday to help them buy new equipment. The majority of the funding came from the foundation’s ‘Ticket to Win’ event in June, and totaled 101,900 for area fire departments and Project Xcite2.

The Nebraska Football team has honored Hall of Fame Coach Tom Osborne outside their new athletic complex. A statue of Osborne and quarterback Brook Berringer has been installed outside the Osborne Legacy Complex. Fred Hoppe sculpted the statue, which was initially installed outside the Osborne Athletic Complex on the north side of Memorial Stadium in 2006. 65-year-old man killed in ATV crash in rural eastern Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Murray man was killed Monday in an ATV crash in rural eastern Nebraska, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office says. First responders were sent around 5:50 p.m. near 12th Avenue and Baxter Loop, just south of Beaver Lake, on a report of a man pinned under an ATV.
GIPD says drunk teens kicked, threatened to kill officers
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Two teenage boys are facing charges in Grand Island after police say they were violent toward officers. It happened just before midnight on Tuesday in the central part of town. Police say two 17-year-old boys were drunk. According to a news release, one boy pulled away and kicked officers. The other threatened to kill the officers and their families.
