Walk a Mile, Oboz Will Plant a Tree

I get a lot of press releases sent to me but I only pass on the ones that I really think are a cool idea or new product. This one I had to pass on to all of my readers. Not only does it inspire getting outdoors but also planting trees.

Oboz is challenging walkers, hikers, runners, and people using mobility assistive devices to get out and hike at least one mile a day. For every hike completed as part of the Oboz Fast Trail Challenge, Oboz will plant a tree and participants will receive chances to win prizes from Oboz and challenge partners. So it is pretty easy, Walk a mile a day and Oboz will plant a tree!

    Oboz Tree Planting

To date Oboz has planted 5 million trees and they have a goal of planting 5 million more. This according to Oboz President, Amy Beck. Oboz has always been focused on planting trees, starting with the first pair of shoes ever sold. They partner with a group called Trees for the Future and participate in a Forest Garden approach. You can read more about Oboz commitment to planting trees and their One More Tree initiative here.

This year the Fast Trail Challenge partners Osprey, All-Trails, DripDrop, Dometic and Oboz, including the new Oboz Katabatic fast trail hikers. The challenge is pretty simple. Register, track your hike on a GPS device like a Garmin or track the hike on a phone app. Then each hike will plant a tree and you, as a participant, will be registered to win prizes from the sponsors. Check the FAQ’s here for more information.

    The Fatman thoughts on Oboz

What a great opportunity to kick start the hiking season and stay active for 10 days while also making sure that more trees get planted! May is always a great time to make it out on the trails if you have avoiding the snow and ice of winter or the mud of the spring.

I have only had the chance to test and review one pair of Oboz boots so far, The Sawtooth X. You can read that review here. Possibly, a good option to kick off the season and plant a tree! Once again, to register for the Fast Trail Challenge click here. If you are a company feel free to send your press releases and initiatives to fatmanlittletrails@gmail.com. Or you can follow along on any of the below social media platoforms. Happy hiking!
