Big Gear Show 23: Colorado Connections

One of the best parts about having a convention in your town is a chance to find all of the local companies that have made their way to the exhibition floor. This year was no different as I found several companies at the Big Gear Show with Colorado connections. From Bed rolls to cleaning wipes, there are some great new innovative products coming out of my own backyard!

Born Outdoor

Born Outdoor is based in Lafayette, Colorado and are known for their impressive bed roll system. Basically a bed anywhere idea that is perfect for those who love to do a little car camping, cowboy camping or just like to have the option for a little more comfort while out on an adventure.

The Born Outdoors Bedroll fits a sleeping pad and bedding in a perfect zip up roll. With the bedroll, users can quickly set up a bed system wherever they are. Then in the morning, just roll it back up for easy storage or carry options. Born also sells a water resistant duffel that allows for even easier carry or cartop storage.

I like that it is one less thing to worry about on an adventure. Just an easy set-up to get a great comfortable nights sleep and then on to the next adventure with a roll!

Iconi

Iconi is a Denver based company that is also woman owned, black owned, and veteran owned! They are a size inclusive, motivational brand that wants to include everyone in the active wear clothing world. As “The Fatman” and a hefty hiker, I can tell you how hard it is to find active wear that is designed for full figured people so, to me, this is an awesome company!

What I really loved about the Iconi brand was the story behind the development. The owner, Angle J, was tired of spending a lot of money on activewear that either did the roll up around the belly thing, or stretched and became see through when actually being active! She set out to develop gear that was comfortable, fit every-body the right way, and was squat proof! Something I can totally relate to as a bigger body but I think everyone has a story about how some clothes just don’t fit right! Iconi has also donated more than $35,000 and 600 articles of clothing to assorted non-profits. More on their philanthropy here. So amazing to see the brands that give back to the communities!

Iconi makes active wear for both Women and Men with sizes ranging from S-4XL in the Women’s lines and M-3XL in the Menswear. For the ladies, Iconi offers Leggings, Sports Bras, Tops, Shorts, Joggers, Hoodies, and accessories. For the men, Leggins, Tops, Shorts, and Accessories.

Outpatch

Outpatch combines two of the hottest collectables right now, stickers and patches, into one great option to show off your style! Co-Founder Rachel is in the Denver area making this another Colorado Connected brand.

The Outpatch patches combine your favorite patches with a strong adhesive that connects it to your clothes, backpack, or even to metal or plastic water bottles. You don’t need to iron these patches on, just add a little heat from a hairdryer to activate the adhesion. (Which is good because I usually burn myself on irons!) These patches can even run through the dishwasher!

Another great feature of Outpatch is their desire to give back. With each patch sold they donate a set portion to a travel or humanitarian non-profit. You can read more about that here! Always great to see companies giving back!

Clean Camp

Clean Camp is a Golden, Colorado based company that is looking at making it easier and safer to have clean dishes while on your next epic camping trip.

For those of us who hike and camp out west, we know that water can be very limited. And we definitely don’t want to pollute a source like a river or lake with our nasty dish water and garbage. Clean Camp helps out without needing to rinse and waste water. No more collapsible sinks, no more hauling dish water. Just clean dishes.

The Clean Camp wipes use water, citric acid, sodium citrate (naturally derived from citrus fruit), sea salt, vegetable glycerin to do the cleaning. Plus, the wipes are 100% compostable. Also, the Clean Camp wipes don’t contain any alcohol or chlorine, so you can feel good using them! A nice way to keep the dishes clean without wasting water or putting bad stuff in to the great outdoors we love so much.
