FAULKNER COUNTY, Ark — Many people in Arkansas have had a firsthand experience with floodwaters, especially the people living in Faulkner County. The recent heavy rains have damaged homes and businesses in the area and caused several roads to have to close until the rain subsided. Though those roads and streets have reopened, the damage that was left behind can be difficult to repair and some insurance policies may not cover the costs.
Justice building evacuated after smoke alarms go off
A faulty HVAC unit belt caused smoke alarms to go off at the Faulkner County Justice Building on Thursday. Authorities evacuated the building after smoke alarms went off around 10 a.m. on Thursday. The Conway Fire Department (CFD) responded to the incident and found “smoke on the second floor,” CFD Chief Mike Winter told the Log Cabin Democrat, adding that there was “no fire” in the building and no injuries in connection to the evacuation.

Made possible with the support of the Arkansas State Library, the Arkansas affiliate of the Library of Congress Center for the Book and a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, “If All Arkansas Read the Same Book” involved book talks with Henry at libraries in Gravette, Arkadelphia and Conway on Sunday and Monday.
Man arrested for fatally shooting his father, Faulkner County sheriffs say
FAULKNER COUNTY, Ark. — A man who shot and killed his father was arrested just outside Conway on Friday, the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office announced. According to authorities, Jack Ruple Jr. was arrested and charged with capital murder and second-degree domestic battery after fatally shooting Jack Ruple Sr. just after 3 p.m. near Saddler Road.

A Conway man suspected of killing his father during an argument is in custody at the Faulkner County Detention Center. Jack Damon Ruple Jr., 37, faces one count of capital murder and one count of domestic battery in the second degree after he allegedly shot and killed his father, Jack Ruple Sr., on Friday.
