Scammers impersonate local law enforcement
Scammers are attempting to impersonate the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO), the Conway Police Department (CPD) warned community members on Wednesday. A CPD officer recently received a scam call from an individual claiming to be with the FCSO and played along “to better understand the scammer’s tactics,” the CPD said.

Police, fire departments compete in basketball tournament
Members of local police and fire departments compete in the annual Battle of the Badges Basketball Tournament on Saturday. Members of the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office, Conway Police Department and the Conway Fire Department competes against members of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas Sheriff’s Office and the City of Little Rock Fire Department in the basketball tournament. The event raised $155 in door fees to support the Boys & Girls Club of Faulkner County along with money raised through concessions at the event.

CPD makes arrest in stabbing
A Morrilton man is in custody at the Faulkner County Detention Center in connection to a stabbing in Conway on Monday. Jamaal Halcrombe, 40, faces one count of battery in the first degree. The victim in the stabbing, 59-year-old Zethro Applegate, went to Conway Regional Medical Center for treatment after he “sustained deep lacerations to his upper arm, chest and thigh,” Halcrombe’s arrest affidavit read.
