Homestead police made an arrest following a burglary at SmartStop Self Storage, after about $20,000 worth of sneakers were reported stolen from the facility located at 1235 NE 12th Ave; the suspect's attempt to flee the crime scene was unusual to say the least. According to WSVN, Tyvarius Tygwyan Straoudmattison was caught by police officers inside the unit after he had climbed through the roof and tried to make an escape across adjoining unit ceilings, which resulted in him falling through one of them.
Man charged with driving under the influence, endangering children in West Mifflin crash
WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) - A man is being accused of driving drunk and crashing into a car with several children inside. According to police, Clarence Newson ran a red light at Lewis Run Road and Clairton Road in West Mifflin and slammed into another turning vehicle that had the right of way. They said they noticed signs of intoxication including observing glassy eyes, slurred speech, and a smell of alcohol. Witnesses told police they observed Newson exit his vehicle with two bottles of beer. They attempted to take him into custody but he resisted. Eventually, police were able to take him into custody and a search of his vehicle found marijuana. Newson had four kids with him in the car and they were all treated at the scene. The woman in the other car was also treated at the scene. Newson is now facing several charges including driving under the influence, resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of children, disorderly conduct, and several traffic charges.

Pittsburgh woman arrested in Ohio after not returning 4 children to legal guardian
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A Beaver Falls woman was taken into custody in Ohio for failing to return her children to their legal guardian. According to Allegheny County Sheriff Kevin Kraus, 33-year-old Ailah Jones is the biological mother of four children, ages 5 to 11 years old and those kids have been in the custody of a legal guardian for over a year. Also, the guardian has complete authority over custody and had arranged for Jones to visit with the children under the agreement she would return them at 4:30 p.m. on June 15.
