Folks Pack the Courthouse For Wind Energy Meeting
About 140 citizens showed up to the Fayette County Commissioners Court meeting last Thursday, June 27, to hear public comments about the proposed Mustang Wind project. No one spoke in favor of the wind farm that Apex Clean Energy wants to build north of Schulenburg. Ten of them spoke in opposition to the project. County Judge Dan Mueller started the meeting by addressing the limited authority of the county government to intervene in this matter.
Local Students Hard at Work on Summer Community Theatre Play
More than 60 students from Fayette and surrounding counties came out to audition for Fayette County Community Theatre’s upcoming double feature plays “Narnia Storybook” and “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.” They range in age from 5 to 17 years old, and hail from La Grange, Giddings, Bastrop, Ellinger, Moulton, Weimar, Schulenburg, West Point, Plum and other areas.

The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will have their next meeting on Saturday, July 6 at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange, located at 255 Svoboda Ln. For anyone interested in learning about beekeeping, there will be a Beekeeping 101 Honey Bee Pests and Diseases from 4:30-5:30 p.m. A potluck dinner will follow, please bring your favorite entrée, side or dessert to share. Afterwards, there will be a business meeting, and a guest presentation. This is a great opportunity for new beekeepers to meet with club members that can serve as mentors and advisors. Membership dues for 2024 are $25/year, individual or family. Membership is not required to attend meetings, FaycoBeeks welcomes all attendees and encourages beekeepers and their families to join. FaycoBeeks meet the first Saturday of every month, more information can be found at faycobeeks.org.
