    Former Razorback swimmer claims 7th in 4x100m freestyle relay in Paris Olympics

    PARIS (KNWA/KFTA) — Former Razorback swimmer Anna Hopkin was a part of the quartet competing for Great Britain in the 4x100m freestyle relay on Saturday in Paris.

    Hopkin led off for the British with the fastest 50 m split in the opening leg with a 25.10, giving Great Britain the early lead. Her 100m split was 53.31, fifth-fastest.

    Australia won the gold medal in the event with an Olympic record of 3:28.92. The United States won silver and China won the bronze medal.

    The Aussies, swimming with the same foursome, established a world record in this event at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, with a time of 3:27.96.

    Arkansas Razorbacks Communications said Hopkin’s first 50m was ahead of the enroute time of 25.63 when the world record 100m first-leg split of 52.08 was established.

    Hopkin is set to swim again in the 100m freestyle prelims on Tuesday, July 30.

    The Paris Olympics run through August 11.
