A new true crime TV series on the Oxygen network highlights a North Carolina murder in this weekend’s episode.

“Sins of the South,” produced by Wolf Entertainment (“Law & Order,” “Chicago Fire”) and Good Caper Content, looks at the case of former Ft. Bragg (now Ft. Liberty) soldier Pfc . Kelli Bordeaux , who was kidnapped and murdered 14 years ago.

Bordeaux, 23, was last seen leaving the Froggy Bottom bar in Fayetteville on April 14, 2012, and her body wasn’t recovered until 2014, when Nicholas Holbert confessed to the killing and told law enforcement officials where he left her body. Holbert killed Bordeaux after she learned he was a registered sex offender and made a comment to him about his status, reported The Fayetteville Observer.

Bordeaux was a health service specialist with the 601st Area Support Medical Company, 261st Multifunctional Medical Battalion, 44th Medical Brigade, reported CBS News.

The true crime TV series Sins of the South tackles the kidnapping & killing of former Fort Bragg soldier Kelli Bordeaux.

The case has been featured on past episodes of NBC’s “Dateline,” but this is an original broadcast about the case.

The Oxygen series uses archival footage, cinematic recreations and interviews to tell its stories. This episode features interviews with friends and family members, as well as law enforcement authorities, including Billy West, the Cumberland County district attorney.

The episode’s description reads: “When a young soldier disappears at an Army base in North Carolina, the police, military, and community band together to try to find her. With time running out, a bounty hunter turned P.I. enacts a plan to coax a suspect to confess to her whereabouts.”

This is the second NC-connected murder featured in the inaugural season of the new series, which focuses on crimes committed south of the Mason-Dixon Line. Episode 6 of Season 1, called “Blue Ridge Bloodshed,” recounted a brutal triple homicide at a Christmas Tree farm on the North Carolina/Virginia border in January 2008. Ashe County sheriff James Williams appeared on “Sins of the South” to tell the story of the killings of Fred Hudler, his father Ron Hudler, and employee John Miller — all shot to death by Freddie Hammer .
