    Disaster Recovery Center to open in Fayette County

    FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WVNS) — A Disaster Recovery Center is set to open in Fayetteville for people who were affected by severe weather at the beginning of April 2024.

    The Disaster Recovery Center will open at 8:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at the Memorial Building at 200 West Maple Avenue in the Fayetteville area of Fayette County.

    More than $1 million provided to April disaster survivors in West Virginia

    The recovery centers, open from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Monday through Saturday, are meant to assist people affected by the severe weather in Fayette , Boone, Cabell, Kanawha, Lincoln, Marshall, Nicholas, Ohio, Putnam, Wayne, and Wetzel counties by helping them apply for FEMA assistance.

    Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) representatives will be found at the Disaster Recovery Centers, where those who visit the center can ask them questions.

    Those who got a letter about their application status from FEMA can go to a Disaster Recovery Center to find out more about the next steps they can take. Staff members at the recovery centers can answer questions, as well as help people submit further information or documentation to FEMA to continue processing applications.

    People affected by the April 2, 2024 through April 6, 2024 storms do not have to visit the centers in person to register with FEMA, they can go to the disaster assistance website , call 800-621- FEMA (3362), which is a toll-free line that is open from 7:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. seven days a week.

    Many things could be included as a part of disaster assistance, such as necessary home repairs, personal property replacement, grants to help renters and homeowners pay for temporary housing, and other serious disaster-related needs that are not covered by insurance.

    Low-interest disaster loans for businesses of any size, renters, homeowners, and private non-profit organizations, are offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The loans can cover rebuilding, repairs, and replacing personal and real estate property that is lost or damaged by the severe weather.
