Kyte Baby- a baby clothing clothing company, has outraged public opinion for not letting an employee work remotely while adopting a child from the NICU.

The controversy began with an employee from Kyte Baby, Marissa Hughes, who shared her experience after being laid off. The topic surrounds her adoption journey and her being laid off by the company for requesting remote work.

Marissa and her partner had major complications in welcoming a child into the world. They had been trying to welcome a child into their family for three years and had failed.

They had even tried IVF treatments, which resulted in major complications for Mariisa and their babies. This also resulted in Marissa and her partner losing three unborn babies.

After years of trying for a baby, the couple finally decided to adopt a baby. In December 2023, they adopted a baby boy born at 22 weeks old. The baby weighed merely one pound when the couple adopted it.

Hughes's employer at the time- Kyte Baby, made matters worse for them by sharing the news. A TikTok was shared by Marissa's Sister, who talked about her experience.

According to the sister, Marissa asked her employer if she would be permitted to work remotely until her newly adopted son was in the NICU.

Marissa was denied parental leave earlier, and the employer denied the request and didn't make matters worse by asking Marissa to let go of her job for the asking.

The TikTok blew over, and the internet Kyte Baby for unfair practices. The public opinion turned to cancel culture for Kyte Baby.

Realizing the situation was out of hand, the CEO of Kyte Baby, Ying Liu, posted a scripted apology video on the company's official TikTok Handle.

Liu shared in the video how she sincerely wants to apologize for how Marissa's Parental leaves were handled.

This apology, however, fueled the internet fire more as people came out to say that Liu was not sincere and demanded a boycott of Kyte Baby products.

Responding to this, Liu issued a second apology to Marissa and the public.
