    Hickory Street and Military Road intersection to close Thursday for remainder of construction project

    FOND DU LAC – Fond du Lac's Public Works Department has announced a complete intersection closure at South Military Road and South Hickory Street.

    A signed detour will be in place once the closure starts at 7 a.m. Aug. 22 and will remain until the reconstruction project is finished. Work at the intersection includes new underground utilities and replacement of traffic signals.

    According to the city's weekly construction update, South Military Road work started in July, spanning Superior Street to Hickory Street. It includes gas main and service relocations, sanitary and storm sewer reconstruction and roadway and street lighting improvements.

    Construction on the project is anticipated to continue through November.

    Other local road closures include Pioneer Road, Rees Street, Marquette Street, Ledgeview Avenue, West Ninth Street, Bragg Street, Henning Street and Franklin Street, according to the construction update.
