    Fond du Lac events include FallToberFest, Listening Party concert, AKC agility trials

    FOND DU LAC – As the colors of fall begin to take over, Fond du Lac will celebrate with FallToberFest in Lakeside Park.

    A trick-or-treat event at Galloway House and Village, a Listening Party concert and a used book sale in Ripon are also scheduled.

    Fond du Lac celebrates autumn with FallToberFest Oct. 12

    The second annual Fondy FallToberFest will take over Oven Island in Lakeside Park Oct. 12. The event is scheduled to run 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free.

    The day’s events include pumpkin launching, horse-drawn wagon rides, trunk or treat, and a giant leaf pit. Locally grown giant pumpkins will be on display and a kids' costume contest will start at 10:30 a.m., among several other activities.

    Live music, food trucks and various Oktoberfest traditions will also be included.

    United Way’s Scary Scurry Fun Run begins at 9:30 a.m. Kids ages 0 to 15 can take part in a 1/3-mile or 1-mile route. Runners are encouraged to dress in costume. Registration is $15 at raceroster.com .

    Ripon library holds annual used book sale

    The Friends of Ripon Public Library will hold its Fall Used Book Sale Oct. 10 to 12 in the basement of the library at 120 Jefferson St., Ripon. Sale hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 10; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 11; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 12.

    Items available include new releases and vintage editions for all ages, a large selection of books for children, hundreds of DVDs, and many large-print and nonfiction books.

    Entry fee Oct. 10 is $3, with free admission Oct. 11 and 12. Oct. 12 is a $3 bag sale in the Last Chance Room. The Showroom and Nash Room are excluded.

    AKC Agility Trials set Oct. 11-13 at Kennel Club

    The Fond du Lac County Kennel Club will hold an AKC-sanctioned Agility Trials Oct. 11 to 13. Trials are held outdoors, adjacent to the clubhouse at N5480 Deneveu Lane, Fond du Lac, and run 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

    Admission is free.

    Agility demonstrates teamwork through a timed obstacle course of jumps, tunnels and weaves poles. Two top-level AKC agility courses run simultaneously.

    Judge for this trials weekend is Zach Davis.

    Great Hall Concert Series features Listening Party Oct. 11

    Listening Party will headline the Oct. 11 Thelma Great Hall Concert Series. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts, 51 Sheboygan St., Fond du Lac.

    Milwaukee-based band Listening Party have a folk and Americana-steeped sound. They have been busy with shows from gigs in bars to performing at Summerfest. Listening Party performs more than 120 shows a year throughout the Midwest.

    Trick or Treat event features candy, games, crafts

    The Historic Galloway House and Village will host a Trick or Treat event from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 13. The Galloway House is at 336 Old Pioneer Road, Fond du Lac.

    Grab your bucket, dress up in your favorite costume, and enjoy trick-or-treating and fall-themed games and crafts. Hot dogs and beverages will be available for purchase.

    Admission is $5 per person, with ages 3 and younger admitted free, or $15 per family.
