Triple-digit heat returns with smoke from Canadian wildfires
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - We’re turning up the heat again across Western Colorado. Triple-digit heat could bake the Grand Valley on Wednesday and Thursday. The Grand Valley is almost always the hottest part of Colorado’s Western Slope. We’ll be nearing 100 degrees in the Grand Valley on Tuesday. Some of our backyard thermometers may touch the century mark, but most of us will stay just shy. Wednesday is a different story. High temperatures will range from 101 degrees around Grand Junction to 103 degrees around the Redlands to 104 degrees around Fruita. Thursday will still be cooking, but we’ll turn down the heat a degree or two. High temperatures will range from 100 degrees around Grand Junction and Palisade to 101 degrees around Fruita and Mack.

It's always hot in Northern Colorado during the summer months, that is no secret. Daily temperatures can easily hover around the upper nineties in July and August. Some Coloradans like it hot while others prefer to retreat to air conditioning until milder milder temperatures can be tolerated in these months.

Incumbent Yadira Caraveo (D), Gabe Evans (R), and five other candidates are running in the general election in Colorado’s 8th Congressional District on Nov. 5, 2024. Colorado Public Radio describes the 8th as “Colorado’s most politically competitive congressional seat.” Both the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee are targeting the district. In the 2022 election, Caraveo defeated Barbara Kirkmeyer (R) 48.4%–47.7%. The 8th district was the fifth-narrowest U.S. House election nationwide in 2022 and the narrowest in which a Democrat won. Throughout 2024, The Cook Political Report with Amy Walter and Inside Elections with Nathan L. Gonzales rated the election a Toss-up and Decision Desk HQ and The Hill and Larry J. Sabato’s Crystal Ball rated it Lean Democratic.

Held once a year, the City of Westminster sponsors this course and provides scholarships for Westminster businesses to attend this Boot Camp at no charge in order to help them craft a personalized marketing plan that helps guide their efforts for the next 12 months.
