Former New Orleans teacher faces more charges in alleged role in juvenile fugitive’s escape

First Alert Forecast: Rain sticking through the weekend, but amounts likely to stay more manageable
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Soggy conditions in SWLA are getting more room to recover with lower rain totals, but the rain hasn’t moved out yet. Friday is finishing off the week without too much change to the current pattern. Widespread showers are likely to sweep through the area by late morning into lunchtime and the afternoon, leaving steady rain for some with a shot at a few thunderstorms. Fortunately, while there is still potential for pockets of heavy rain, totals continue to shape up lower in general with most of the area only expected to see about 1/2 inch to maybe 1 inch of rain. Flood Watches have stayed lifted for the most part, but River Flood Warnings remain in place until further notice and that may affect those in more low lying or flood-prone areas.

Long-time McNeese broadcaster dies at 55
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Long-time McNeese broadcaster Richard Dow passed away Wednesday at the age of 55. McNeese Athletics Department issued a statement in his honor:. “McNeese Athletics would like to express our deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers to the Dow family. Richard was our broadcaster for many years, and even after his time with us, he continued to bleed Blue and Gold and cheered on the Cowboys and Cowgirls. He exemplified what a professional is in this business. He cared, not only about doing his job as a first-class broadcaster, but also cared about the student-athletes, coaches and staff. Most of all, Richard was a tremendous friend and human being. He loved his family more than anything and was always proud to tell stories about them. You’ll be greatly missed Richard. We know you’ll be ringing those cowbells and cheering us on.”
