Driver fatally strikes horse pulling Amish buggy in southern Minnesota

A driver crashed into an Amish buggy Thursday afternoon in Fillmore County.

According to Fillmore County Sheriff John DeGeorge, dispatch received a 911 about the crash at approximately 3:59 p.m., with first responders arriving at the scene on County Road 21 at the intersection with 130th St.

Four people were in the buggy while the pickup driver was alone.

The buggy was traveling east from 130 ^th Street onto County Road 21. The pickup driver swerved to avoid the buggy and wound up fatally striking the horse that was pulling the buggy.

None of buggy occupants were injured, and the pickup driver sustained minor scrapes. No one involved in the crash required medical attention.
