The Shoppes at North Village reaches 20 years
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Shoppes at North Village have served St. Joseph and the surrounding areas for 20 years. In the early 2000s, St. Joseph sought to purchase land from Buchanan County near what is now known as the North Belt Walmart. This land was purchased from the county using a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) system that paid back the bills to build the area with taxes. Two decades later, the TIF is paid off, and the shopping center lives on.
