Ever-Green Energy President and CEO Luke Gaalswyk will soon take on the additional role of president and CEO of District Energy St. Paul, according to a press release.

District Energy St. Paul is the parent company of Ever-Green Energy, which operates and manages energy and water systems in California, Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

For its part, District Energy St. Paul heats more than 200 buildings and 300 single-family homes and cools more than 120 buildings “in and adjacent to downtown St. Paul,” according to the release.

Gaalswyk will assume the additional role of president and CEO of District Energy St. Paul on Oct. 1. Outgoing District Energy CEO Ken Smith will stay on as a senior adviser through fall 2025.

“It has been the honor of a lifetime to lead these two incredible organizations, and I could not be more excited for Ever-Green and District Energy’s futures,” Smith said in the release. “I look forward to watching the continued success that I know Luke will lead both companies through in the coming years.”

Previously, Gaalswyk held leadership roles in power generation and district energy industries with Xcel Energy and NRG Thermal (now Cordia), according to the release. He holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Dayton and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the United States Air Force Academy.

“It has been a great experience getting to know District Energy St. Paul and Ever-Green Energy and the people we serve,” Gaalswyk said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to lead these innovative and resilient organizations that are making a difference for our clients and for our communities with the important work that we do. It is an honor.”
