A glass of wine can be such a delightful ritual at the end of a hard day. It adds punch to a meal and comfort to a life well lived.

There is a bevy of low-alcohol wines on the market that are indulgent and flavorful. And what’s best, if you are trying to make smart money moves , there are delicious, inexpensive wine selections. Many options have lower alcohol by volume (ABV), from 6 to 11%. Fortified wines more commonly have an ABV of 15.5 to 25%.

Here are some of our favorite affordable low-alcohol wines worth adding to your shopping list.

Editor’s note: Prices are subject to change and may vary by location.

Don't Miss: 9 ways to tackle high grocery costs you won't hear about from your grocery store

    1. 2021 Barnard Griffin Rob’s Red Blend

    Price: $15

Sometimes, I default to a delectable red blend. And if you don’t know your friends’ taste, it can be an easy go-to. Many of these blends are a great mix of bitter and sweet and somehow translate really well for a wide variety of wine aficionados.

This particular $15 blend is 13.8% ABV and comes from a 40-year-old family winery in Washington State. It tastes like chocolate, coffee, and berries. The black fruits ripened faster in the summer of 2021 because of the heat.

This blend is a time capsule in honor of that summer, available at a crazy affordable price from a regional family winemaker.

    2. Cupcake LightHearted Pinot Grigio White Wine

    Price: $7.49

Cupcake’s LightHeared Pino Grigio is only 80 calories and has less than one gram of natural sugar per serving. Couple all that with the fact that a 750 mL bottle is just 8% ABV and available for just $7.49 at Total Wine.

You can also fund the fan-favorite Cupcake brand across box stores like Walmart and Target, and at most liquor stores. I love a Pinot with a pasta dish, partiuclarly a chicken or shrimp fettuccini alfredo.

It works equally as well with red sauce, and nothing tastes wrong with an abundance of bread and herbed oil.

    3. Peter Mertes It’s Win Time It’s Pinot Grigio Time

    Price: $4.99

As though the aforementioned Pinot Grigio wasn’t affordable enough, Peter Mertes makes a tasty lemon/lime Pinot at a $4.99 price point at Total Wine.

If you are buying in bulk or on a budget, this wine is a great wallet-friendly purchase, though it does have an 11.5% ABV. If you have a few extra dollars to invest, I would still default to Cupcake’s low-ABV option.

I am a big fan of natural citrus beverages and am thrilled when a wine has citrus notes in it–particularly grapefruit. With passion fruit added in, Osmosis creates a 0g sugar, reduced alcohol rosé that is super tasty.

For just $14.99, Osmosis is grown on sustainably farmed vineyards in high altitudes in Argentina and touts its superiority for these reasons. The rosé is 9% ABV, has only 85 calories per serving, and will ship directly to your door in most states.

Vinho Verde wine is a Portuguese wine that is historically low ABV, usually landing between 8% and 11.5%. These wines are available in red, white, or rosé and sometimes in sparkling varieties, depending on when the grapes are harvested and how they are fermented.

The Casal Garcia Vinho Verde White is a really tasty variety, available at wine and liquor chains like Total Wine and World Liquor. Customers love it in the summer and say they get minimal hangovers.

    6. Castello del Poggio Moscato White Dessert Wine

Castello del Poggio is an Italian brand known for both its sweet and dry wine varietals that do extraordinarily well in the summer months.

Their Moscato White Dessert Wine is less than $11 and is only 7% ABV. You can find it almost anywhere–at bodegas, pharmacies, and your local Walmart, which widely carries this brand.
