PNC Bank is one of many banks shutting down branches nationwide in 2024.

The bank recently announced that it was closing locations in multiple U.S. states. In some states, multiple PNC locations will close.

If you're trying to build your net worth , you might wonder if your PNC branch will be one of the shuttered locations. Check the following list to see if your local PNC Bank is on it.

    1. Alabama

    • 105 W Green St., Athens

The branch closing on Green Street will leave the town of Athens with only one PNC Bank branch.

    2. Florida

    • 12000 Forest Hill Blvd., Wellington

The Forest Hill Boulevard location is one of three in Wellington, so customers should still have options available after the branch closes.

Florida has a total of 183 PNC Bank branches throughout the state if you want to continue banking with PNC Bank.

    3. Georgia

    • 5320 Flynn Crossing, Alpharetta

Alpharetta has four PNC Bank branches, which may be why the bank chose to close this location on Flynn Crossing.

Georgia has 55 branch locations, including eight spots in Atlanta.

    4. Indiana

    • 10570 North Michigan Road, Carmel

This is the second PNC Bank location in the greater Indianapolis area to close within a year.

The company shuttered a branch location in downtown Indianapolis on Aug. 18 of last year.

    5. Maryland

    • 24385 Mervell Dean Road, Hollywood

The PNC Bank location in Hollywood closed its doors on April 19.

PNC Bank plans to merge the shuttered branch with its location in Lexington Park.

    6. Michigan

    • 60 Southfield Road, Ecorse
    • 19450 Haggerty Road, Livonia
    • 222 West Main St., Pinckney

Michigan will lose three branches when PNC Bank closes spots in Ecorse, Livonia, and Pinckney.

The state has also faced branch closings for Huntington National Bank and Citizens Bank this year.

    7. Pennsylvania

    • 60 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg
    • 319 Pratt Drive, Indiana
    • 178 Bakery Square Blvd., Pittsburgh
    • 4761 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh
    • 5932 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh

PNC Bank is headquartered in Pittsburgh, so some home office workers may lose one of their local branches as part of the company’s shutdowns.

Pittsburgh has the largest number of branches closing in one city, with three branches locking their doors for good.

    8. Texas

    • 411 State Highway 147, Broaddus
    • 2401 University Blvd., Houston
    • 600 Matamoros St., Laredo
    • 700 San Bernardo Ave., Laredo
    • 300 W 7th St., Fort Worth

Laredo is being hit harder than other cities in Texas, with two locations shutting down. However, once the closings are complete, customers will still have nine branches to visit in the city.

PNC Bank already closed the branch location in Fort Worth earlier this year.

    9. Wisconsin

    • 6042 South Packard Ave., Cudahy

The Cudahy branch is the only PNC Bank location in the city, and it will now be left without any options for PNC customers.

Cudahy is a suburb of Milwaukee, but customers will still have eight locations in the city to choose from.

    Other banks are closing branches

Not only are PNC Bank customers facing the closure of their favorite branches, but several other banks have also announced that they are shutting down locations.

These include Bank of America, Huntington National Bank, U.S. Bank, and Wells Fargo.

    Why are bank branches closing?

The ability to bank online means customers don’t need to visit bank branches as much as they used to.

During the pandemic, many people who previously stopped by their local bank branch quickly moved to online banking, which likely has hastened the demise of brick-and-mortar bank locations.

    Bottom line

These PNC branch closings might be inconvenient, but there are plenty of other places you can go to.

Alternatively, you may want to open a new bank account with a different bank with more branches in your area. If you prefer to stick with PNC, check to see if there are other branches nearby that can fill your needs.

Money tips that can work for everyone

No matter what your bank account balance is, there's always an opportunity to optimize and improve your finances. Here's a quick checklist of things you can look at today.

Focus on paying off your debt . Debt can hold you back from making progress with your overall financial well-being. Aside from cutting expenses, there are tools that can help you pay off debt faster like balance transfer credit cards and debt counseling.

Earning extra income can give you breathing room. If finances are tight, earning some extra money to supplement your income can make a huge difference. A new job is one option to consider, but if you're not ready to make a big change or already retired, a part-time side job could be a better choice.

Cut your expenses. It sounds painful and so not fun, but it doesn't have to be. Take a look at your biggest expenses because that's where you'll probably find the biggest savings. For example, auto insurance rates have been soaring so shopping around for a new insurance company can be the fastest way to cut your bill. Also, look for ways to cut your grocery bill (despite rising inflation).
