These 14 States Are Getting a Slim Chickens in 2024

Maybe you haven’t heard of Slim Chickens, but you probably will soon: The fast-casual restaurant chain plans to open dozens of new locations in 2024.

The restaurant chain, which specializes in chicken tenders and chicken wings, is expected to open 70 locations across the U.S. this year.

If you're trying to stretch your fast food budget , watch out: Here are the states where Slim Chickens plans new restaurants that might soon tempt you to spend a few more dollars.

1. South Carolina

• 135 Sapwood Rd, Myrtle Beach

Slim Chickens plans to open one new location in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in the near future.

One new restaurant recently opened in a high-traffic area along Killian Road in Charleston. Another of its new restaurants, located on Beltline Boulevard, opened on March 18.

The Florence location opened in April next to a new Dunkin’ Donuts location, so residents can have breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the same area.

2. Florida

• 23260 U.S. 27 North, Lake Wales

The new Lake Wales location for Slim Chickens opened in March and is part of a growing area in the city that has several spots to stop for food.

Slim Chickens joins a Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers near the Eagle Ridge Mall in Lake Wales and gives residents multiple options for fast-casual dining.

A Culver’s restaurant could also be joining the collection of restaurants in the area in the future.

3. Alabama

• 8524 U.S. Highway 431, Albertville

Slim Chickens is taking over a lot once occupied by a legendary restaurant in the Albertville area.

Catfish Cabin was demolished last year after struggling in the wake of the pandemic and closing in February 2021.

In its place is a new Slim Chickens, the fifth opened by developer Dana Price in Alabama.

4. Arizona

• 3630 W. Happy Valley Road, Glendale

The newly opened Slim Chickens in Glendale are part of a plan to add more locations throughout Maricopa County in Arizona.

The first Slim Chickens opened in Maricopa in October. Barnett Management's strategic plan is to open 32 locations throughout Arizona to bring chicken tenders, wings, and sandwiches to the state’s residents.

5. Maryland

• 1076 MD-3 South, Gambrills

Slim Chickens recently announced that it’s bringing seven additional locations to Maryland for customers to enjoy.

The restaurant company made the deal with DDR Holdings, which will operate the new locations. Details about all of the locations have not been announced yet.

The restaurant chain already has two locations in the state in the cities of Bowie and California.

6. Kansas and Missouri

Slim Chickens also signed a deal for 14 locations throughout Kansas and Missouri, although the exact locations haven’t been announced yet.

The deal was signed with AP Restaurant Group, which already owns several Slim Chickens locations in Oklahoma and Kansas City.

7. Michigan

In late 2023, Slim Chickens signed a deal with Nathan Finney of FHG Slims to bring 14 locations to the state of Michigan.

Locations are slated for Lansing, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, and other cities in the state.

Slim Chickens currently has two locations in Michigan, both on college campuses: Central Michigan University and Oakland University.

8. Kentucky

• 2897 Richmond Road, Lexington
• 3724 Frederica St., Owensboro

Houchens Food Group has continued to expand its Slim Chickens presence with two new locations in Kentucky this year.

The employee-owned company marked its 10th Slim Chickens opening in March with its new location in Owensboro.

9. Louisiana

You may be getting a new Slim Chickens restaurant if you live in Rapides, Lafayette, East Baton Rouge, St. Tammany, or Ascension.

The company signed a deal with a husband-and-wife franchisee team to open seven locations in the state, although details on where those locations will be haven’t been announced.

10. New Mexico

• 1909 Wellspring Ave., Rio Rancho

New Mexico can enjoy Slim Chickens with its third location in the state, joining locations in Albuquerque and Farmington.

The new spot in Rio Rancho is the second Slim Chickens opened by franchisee Desert Slims.

11. Nebraska

• 840 N 17th St, Lincoln

Nebraska will also soon be home to even more Slim Chickens. This location will be the third in the state, also in Lincoln.

12. North Carolina

• 1311 N Brightleaf Blvd, Smithfield

There are already five Slim Chickens locations in North Carolina, but the state will soon be getting it's sixth so residents can get their chicken fix.

13. Georgia

• 4030 Watson Blvd, Warner Robins

This summer will see a new addition to Georgia. While the state already has three locations, the newest opening in Warner Robins will mean four restaurants in total as part of the chain's efforts to expand throughout the South.

14. Iowa

• 965 SE Alice's Rd, Waukee

Iowa first saw Slim Chickens make their way into the state in 2022, and a new location is coming to Waukee, making it the third after Ankeny and Grimes.
