We may have had to wait a little longer to see the chain's new pumpkin-themed options, but we're glad we waited — Dunkin's new and delicious line-up has customers giving Starbucks and its more expensive equivalent options the side-eye.

The cost of grabbing food or beverages on the go has drastically risen in the last few years, leaving consumers constantly shopping for the best value to stretch their restaurant budget and go out to eat more . Dunkin's cheaper pumpkin spice options may move the needle and encourage shoppers to forego the 'Bucks for their coffee and snacks this season.

See how our favorite Dunkin' fall menu items compare to Starbucks.

Editor’s note: Prices are subject to change and may vary by location.

Don't miss: 8 clever ways to save money so you can still afford to eat out

    1. Pumpkin Spice Iced Signature Latte

Dunkin's Pumpkin Spice Iced Signature Latte rings up to $5.49 for a medium and is full of a delicious pumpkin flavor. Compared to a "grande" 16-ounce PSL from Starbucks, which runs $6.25, it's a better deal at Dunkin'.

Sweetened with a blend of chai spices, Dunkin's Pumpkin Iced Chai Latte is priced at $4.69 for a medium. Over at Starbucks, an Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai is $6.25 — no wonder America runs on Dunkin'!

    3. Pumpkin Muffin

Dunkin's pumpkin muffin is drizzled with vanilla icing and goes for $2.49. Starbucks, again, is once again more expensive — a whopping $3.95 for a single Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin.

    Bottom line

It's wonderful to have a treat while out and about, but if you're looking for affordable fall flavors, you'll want to hit a Dunkin' rather than a Starbucks.

Dunkin's fall menu also includes some other new treats to try, such as the Almond Spice Coffee, Maple Sugar Bacon Breakfast Sandwich, Apple Cider Donut, and, of course, the Pumpkin Donut, which is back for the season, too.

It's no secret that more families are skipping the coffee houses and restaurants to combat rising food prices, but there are other ways to tackle high grocery costs that will still leave money in your wallet for the occasional treat on the go.

Money tips that can work for everyone

No matter what your bank account balance is, there's always an opportunity to optimize and improve your finances. Here's a quick checklist of things you can look at today.

Focus on paying off your debt . Debt can hold you back from making progress with your overall financial well-being. Aside from cutting expenses, there are tools that can help you pay off debt faster like balance transfer credit cards and debt counseling.

Earning extra income can give you breathing room. If finances are tight, earning some extra money to supplement your income can make a huge difference. A new job is one option to consider, but if you're not ready to make a big change or already retired, a part-time side job could be a better choice.

Cut your expenses. It sounds painful and so not fun, but it doesn't have to be. Take a look at your biggest expenses because that's where you'll probably find the biggest savings. For example, auto insurance rates have been soaring so shopping around for a new insurance company can be the fastest way to cut your bill. Also, look for ways to cut your grocery bill (despite rising inflation).
