Kerrie Turner’s Transition to Full-Time Administrator at BGSU Sparks Search for New Gymnastics Head Coach
Head Coach Kerrie Turner is transitioning to a full-time administrator role within BGSU athletics department, becoming the new assistant AD for student-athlete services. Turner served as the gymnastics head coach at BGSU for 17 seasons. Under Turner's leadership, Falcon gymnasts achieved 12 MAC individual championships and 27 NCAA regional qualifiers.
True, lifelong friendship on display at Kroger
Local resident Maggi Dandar couldn’t help but notice a true testament to friendship and caring on a recent shopping trip at the Oregon Kroger. “I happened to notice two lovely senior women doing their shopping together. It was like watching a well-oiled machine as Lois Eddy, 71, would hold the coupons and tell Betty Kasubski, 86, how many items to get. Betty would get it off the shelves and Lois would place it in the cart. Lois was also proficient at knowing which aisle had what in it and how to find it.

Car show aims to fill a cruiser with school supplies
An annual car show sponsored by the Mercy Health Protective Services Department will be held Saturday at Mercy Health Perrysburg Hospital.The festivities run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 12623 Eckel Junction Rd. There is no entry fee, but attendees are asked to bring school supplies to donate to local schools. The show’s goal is to completely fill a police cruiser with school items. All types of vehicles will be on display, including sports cars, muscle cars, and classic cars. The cars will be lined up in the hospital’s surgery center parking lot outside Entrance C. Coffee and food trucks and a bounce house will also be on site.Competition categories for the cars include chief’s choice, best muscle car, best classic car, and people’s choice.
Local restaurant vandalized with racist graffiti; local businesses pitch in to help clean it up
A local, beloved Mediterranean restaurant was vandalized yesterday, but thanks to other local businesses, the racist remarks have already been cleaned off their windows. Lavash Cafe, located at 2985 N. High St. in Clintonville since 2008, posted on their Instagram account that someone vandalized their doors with racist graffiti, but that the community is rallying behind them. “We love our Clintonville neighborhood because of moments like this,” Lavash posted. “Last night, someone messaged us after discovering racist graffiti on our windows and new vinyl bakery door.”
Lima Police Department investigating body found in wooded area downtown
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Police Department is investigating a body found Monday afternoon. Around 12:30 p.m., police received a report of a body found in a wooded area on the corner of Jackson and Market Street, beside the train tracks. The body had been there for a significant amount of time and appeared to be male. There were no signs of a struggle or clues as to the cause of death where it was found. The deceased individual was sent to the Lucas County Coroner to determine their identity and cause of death, but a report may not be complete for several weeks.

Across downtown Dayton, art of all mediums will be celebrated at the annual Art in the City event. The Aug. 3 festival is part of the Downtown Dayton Partnership’s “Summer in the City” series. There will be live performances, art on display, food trucks and activities for all ages.
Card shower announced for Eugene Baker’s 103rd birthday
LAURA — The family of Eugene (Gene) E. Baker, who turns 103 on Aug. 8, invites everyone to participate in a card shower to celebrate his birthday. Baker was born on Aug. 8, 1921. He is the son of the late David and Kate Jane (Cordier) Baker. He lived his most of his life in the Laura area. He also spent time serving his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII.
