A father in Prince William County, Virginia, gave his son the ultimate wedding present: a winning lottery ticket worth $1 million. Aaron Andrews, who got married in April, had been living in his father’s basement with his new wife while they saved for a home. But thanks to his father’s surprise gift, those plans are moving forward faster than expected.

The father, an avid lottery player, had purchased a ticket for the Virginia Lottery’s Cash4Life drawing. He ended up matching the first five winning numbers.

    Big Winner

The specific date when the father won the lottery ticket is not provided in the available information, nor do media reports mention the father’s name.

“Instead of choosing that himself, he gave the ticket to his son as a wedding present,” according to the lottery officials, People reported. “Aaron chose the cash option, which made it a $1 million wedding gift!”

On Sept. 1, the odds of winning the jackpot in the Virginia Lottery’s Cash4Life game, which awards $1,000 a day for life, are 1 in 21,846,048. If you match all five main numbers plus the Cash Ball, you win this top prize , according to Lottery Post. If you only match the five main numbers without the Cash Ball, the odds improve slightly to 1 in 7,282,016, and the prize is $1,000 a week for life

Once gifted the ticket, the newlyweds opted for a one-time cash prize of $1 million offered instead of an option offering $1,000 per week for life.

The winning ticket was purchased at PJ’s Neighborhood Variety Store in Triangle, Virginia. The winning numbers for the Aug. 3 drawing were 25-35-36-41-59, with the Cash Ball number 2. The father had used Easy Pick, allowing the computer to randomly select the numbers, according to Virginia Lottery.

Now the couple is set to go house hunting.
