Man shot and killed in southwest Fresno, police say
A man has died following a shooting in southwest Fresno on Sunday.It happened just before 9 pm on Modoc and Strother.Officers found a 22-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound.Police performed life-saving measures, but he was declared dead at the scene.Police are interviewing witnesses and asking residents in the area for any surveillance video of the scene.

The new Clovis South High School and Phillip V. Sanchez Intermediate School Longhorns got ''branded'' this week.The Clovis Unified School District Governing Board unveiled the official logo and letter-marks for the two schools.They both make up the Terry P. Bradley Educational Center. Bradley himself was in the audience to celebrate.He's was a long-time administrator and superintendent of the district.More than 40 family members of the late Philip Sanchez also attended.Sanchez was a Clovis Unified graduate who went on to become the first Hispanic American on a U.S. Presidential Cabinet and was appointed as a U.S. Ambassador.The Bradley Educational Center is under construction at Highland and Clinton avenues and it is planned to begin a phased opening in the fall of 2025 for grades 7 through 9.
2 found dead in vehicle on Highway 99 off-ramp in Stanislaus County; investigation underway
SALIDA – A Highway 99 off-ramp in Stanislaus County is expected to be closed for most of Sunday night after two people were found dead in a vehicle, the California Highway Patrol says. Officers responded to reports of a possible assault at about 6 p.m. on the northbound Highway 99 off-ramp at Hammett Road. When at the scene, officers found a man and woman dead in a Honda sedan parked on the shoulder, the CHP said. They have not been identified at this time. A preliminary investigation indicates it may have stemmed from a domestic violence incident earlier in the day, officers said. The Hemmett Road off-ramp is likely to stay closed for most of the night. This is in northern Salida. Officers said there is no lingering threat to the public. Anyone with information is urged to contact the CHP - Modesto unit.
Southern California man arrested after Ceres police chase suspect in stolen vehicle
CERES – A man out of Southern California was arrested after a police chase in Stanislaus County on Friday morning, police said Sunday. A Ceres police officer located an occupied stolen vehicle near E. Hatch Road and Mitchell Road around 5:15 a.m. When the officer tried to pull the suspect over, they took off, initiating a chase in and around the Ceres area. The pursuit continued to the Turlock area, where police tried to complete a PIT maneuver, but the driver regained control of the vehicle. Police said the suspect, later identified as 41-year-old Chhay Hisocanphaktra of Stockton, rammed the front end of a police vehicle in an attempt to get away. Hisocanphaktra was then taken into custody after police disabled the vehicle. A records check showed Hisocanphaktra was on post-release community supervision out of Orange County. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on numerous felony charges. No officers were injured.

Destructive fire breaks out at Mariposa County trailer park
Over a dozen people are looking for a place to stay Sunday after a destructive fire at a mobile home park in Mariposa County.The flames broke out in the Coulterville Community early Sunday morning.It destroyed six trailers, forcing 17 people out of their homes.The Mariposa County Sheriff's Office says power at the facility will be out for days.The Red Cross will be providing hotel rooms, food and clothing for the families and their pets.It's unclear how the fire started.
