King Charles ‘Wasn’t Pleased’ With These Kate Middleton and Prince William Photos

Remember when Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton got married in a historic ceremony in 2011? Most fans of the royal family thought the pair were adorable and charming as newlyweds. But according to book about King Charles released in 2017, he reportedly had a very different opinion.

In Prince Charles: The Passions and Paradoxes of an Improbable Life ( Buy on Amazon, $20 ), author Sally Bedell Smith claimed that William and Kate "irked" Charles while they were on their post-wedding North American tour. The king apparently dismissed the royal pair's trip to California and Canada because it included so many photo ops, Marie Claire reported.

Smith alleged that Charles "wasn't pleased" with how camera-friendly William and Kate acted on the trip. Smith added that His Majesty even considered some of the photos from the tour in particular to be "tasteless."

Times have certainly changed since then, and William and Kate are beloved by both the royal family and the British public, with the king and the Princess of Wales becoming increasingly closer in 2024 due to their simultaneous cancer battles. However, the couple's early photos still prove the king's early concerns.
