Watch Lady Gaga Surprise Fans at ‘Joker 2’ Premiere by Handing Out Popcorn in Viral Video from the Event

Joker 2 — a.k.a. Joker: Folie à Deux— is almost here, and star Lady Gaga decided to celebrate the occasion with popcorn! The Grammy-winning singer—who plays Harley Quinn in the film—decided to attend a special screening of the film and hand out popcorn to the attendees. Originally shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) and TikTok by @ivic101, the now-viral video shows Gaga wearing an all-black dress, fishnet tights and handing out bags of popcorn to moviegoers at the September 21 special screening of Joker: Folie à Deux in Los Angeles , California.

She then drops some before giving away the last couple of bags and telling them all to “enjoy the f--king show.”

Fans of the singer and the film ate the exchange up, commenting things like, “ You just know handing out the popcorn was her idea too,” and, “My two fav things in the whole entire universe.. popcorn & Gaga.”

Victor Martinez, aka @ivic101, wrote on TikTok, “ We were all gagged that she was there!!”

What we know about ‘Joker 2’

Joker: Folie à Deux— or Joker 2— is set to hit theaters on October 4, five years after the original. The plot is expected to follow Arthur Fleck/Joker (Joaquin Phoenix) during his stay at Gotham's Arkham State Hospital. While there, the failed comedian meets the love of his life, Lee Quinzel/Harley Quinn (Lady Gaga), who introduces him to the world of music and love.

"I loved working with Joaquin, I loved working with [Director] Todd [Phillips]," Gaga said of the film. “I've never done anything like I've done in this movie before, so it's all going to be completely brand new and really fun ."

The film is expected to feature some musical numbers, with Phoenix revealing, "I encouraged her [Gaga] to sing poorly . I remember asking her to sing without her vibrato. She has a beautiful vibrato—too beautiful. I think she felt naked without it, but as soon as she moved away from technique, she unlocked her character’s voice.”

The Oscar winner also shared, “Not only did we sing live , but every part of the recording was live. We didn’t sing to completed tracks or a click track. We were working with a pianist on set, so each take was a different version of the song and of singing the song, so that felt really exciting and created an energy that was necessary.”

Alongside Phoenix and Gaga, stars like Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson, Steve Coogan and Zazie Beetz are expected to have appearances in the sequel.

Joker: Folie à Deux marks Gaga’s third feature film since 2018 — A Star Is Born and House of Gucci propelled her to acting stardom — but according to her, " I had never seen a world created like that before."

"It brought out all of that rough and tough energy and how big these dreams were, and how far they would fall," the singer continued to say. "It was a very special experience. ”
