As Hurricane Milton tapers off and we reckon with its tremendous damage, celebrities like Taylor Swift are stepping up with significant donations to support its victims. Keep reading to find out all the details of Taylor Swift’s hurricane donation and how other celebrities, like Dolly Parton, are helping with relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Milton and Hurricane Helene.

Taylor Swift’s $5m donation to hurricane relief efforts

On Wednesday, October 10, the nonprofit organization Feeding America took to Instagram to announce that the Grammy award-winning singer had donated $5 million to the charity to help out victims of both Hurricane Milton and Helene.

We're incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift for her generous $5 million donation to Hurricanes Helene and Milton relief efforts,” the nonprofit’s CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, wrote in her statement. “This contribution will help communities rebuild and recover, providing essential food, clean water, and supplies to people affected by these devastating storms. Together, we can make a real impact in supporting families as they navigate the challenges ahead. Thank you, Taylor, for standing with us in the movement to end hunger and for helping communities in need."

Swift herself is supposed to be in Miami, Florida on October 18 to kick off the last leg of her widely successful Eras Tour and as of now, the shows have yet to be canceled or postponed.

The singer has pulled shows in the past because of the weather, namely on October 10, 2022, in B uenos Aires, Argentina, because of rain and in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on November 18, 2022, because of extreme heat. She also delayed her February 23, 2024, Sydney, Australia show due to heavy lighting.

Swift also canceled her Vienna shows in August due to a suspected terrorist attack, which the “ Clara Bow ” singer called “ devastating ” and an experience that filled her “with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows.”

None of Swift’s Vienna shows were rescheduled.

More celebrities who have donated to hurricane victims

Other celebrities, including Dolly Parton, have made generous contributions to hurricane relief efforts recently, too.

In early October, the country singer held a press conference to announce that she would be gifting $1 million to the nonprofit Mountain Ways Foundation , which provides immediate assistance to people affected by Hurricane Helene.

“These are special people here; they're my people ," Parton said at a press conference in Newport, Tennessee. “I feel like all people are my people, but everyone here grew up in the mountains just like I did, so of course I have a close connection to them. I can't stand to see anyone hurting, so I wanted to do what I could to help after these terrible floods."

Also in that press conference, Parton announced that her businesses The Dollywood Foundation and Dollywood Parks & Resorts are planning to match the singer's $1 million donation, bringing the total to $2 million.

The Jolene singer also worked with John Furner, Walmart's U.S. CEO, to help the company donate $10 million to bring relief to people affected by the natural disaster.

Says Parton: "I hope we can all be a little bit of light in the world for our friends, our neighbors—even strangers—during this dark time they are experiencing."

The heavy metal band Metallica announced that its nonprofit All Within My Hands Foundation would be donating $50,000 each to World Central Kitchen and disaster rescue charity Team Rubicon to help with hurricane relief efforts.

Wrote the band on X (formally known as Twitter): “ Over the past week, Hurricane Helene has left a 500-mile path of destruction throughout Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee in its wake. It is an unmitigated tragedy, with over 215 lives lost and hundreds of people still unaccounted for. Historic water levels and widespread flooding across the Appalachians have left hundreds of roads inaccessible, hindering rescue efforts.”

Country star Morgan Wallen also donated $ 500,000 to the American Red Cross .
