Retiring Melvindale Police K-9 Spence honored
MELVINDALE – Retiring K-9 Officer Spence, who partnered with newly appointed Police Chief Robert Kennaley, was honored during the July 17 City Council meeting. Spence, a German shepherd, who was born 11 years ago in the Czech Republic, has been in the United States for the past 10 years. He joined the Melvindale police force on Nov. 6, 2014 and trained in obedience, tracking, narcotics detection, area search, building search, evidence search and handler detection.
