Selma City Schools has announced several new hires as the new school year approaches. The district hired Selma police department's former assistant chief Natasha Fowlkes as the third and final School Resource Officer. Fowlkes resigned on July 2 from her job as assistant chief of Selma police after being on leave for a month during an investigation of possible wrongdoing.

Montgomery police seeking location of man wanted for SORNA violation
The Montgomery Police Department is seeking a man for allegedly violating the Sex Offender Registration Notification Act or SORNA. According to Central Alabama CrimeStoppers, the suspect has been identified as John Sides, 54. He is described as a white male standing at 5’3” in height and weighing approximately 145 pounds.
