Selma City Schools makes new hires
Selma City Schools has announced several new hires as the new school year approaches. The district hired Selma police department's former assistant chief Natasha Fowlkes as the third and final School Resource Officer. Fowlkes resigned on July 2 from her job as assistant chief of Selma police after being on leave for a month during an investigation of possible wrongdoing.

The Montgomery Police Department is seeking a man for allegedly violating the Sex Offender Registration Notification Act or SORNA. Washington County, Florida Sheriff’s Office Arrests Terry Gene Gilbert and Bathina Michele Cauley of Cottondale for Methamphetamine, Etc.
Two Cottondale residents were arrested earlier this afternoon and booked into the Washington County Jail on drug charges. Just before 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a blue colored pick-up truck travelling on State Rd. 77 near Nearing Hills Circle. The WCSO deputy made contact with the driver, 65-year-old Terry Gene Gilbert. A brief check of information revealed Gilbert’s license had been cancelled. Gilbert was detained for further investigation.
