Members of the Pinal County Attorney's Office joined first reponders for a DUI reenactment at Florence High.

The event, which took place Wednesday at Florence High School, was spearheaded by the Florence Police Department as part of its efforts to keep teens safe during graduation and prom season.

The mock DUI included a crashed car, a fatality and a helicopter rescue.

"While difficult to watch, these reenactments are important to show our youth the real life consequences that can happen when driving impaired. We hope the students learned valuable information and we appreciate their time," according to a post on the PCAO Facebook page.

Florence Police Chief Bruce Wall stated that his department worked with the Florence High School principal and staff "on impairment driving and the consequences.”

The police were also joined by the Florence Fire & Medical Department and the Pinal County Sherriff’s Office.

“It is our hope as our kids graduate and celebrate, they do that safely,” Walls stated.

Under Walls, the Florence Police Department has been working to connect with students on a personal level by making regular visits to all school campuses.
