Florence drivers will face traffic delays with the start of the SR-79 Pavement Improvement Project next week.

On Monday, June 3, the Arizona Department of Transportation  will start the pavement improvement project on SR-79 from the CAP Canal Bridge to the Gila River Bridge.

While the project is scheduled to run from June 3 to July 19, the majority of work and single/alternating-lane closures will take place June 3-7 throughout various sections of the project area, according to a post on the town of Florence Facebook page.

During this time, there will be 25-mile-per-hour speed restrictions and 12-foot width restrictions.

Flagging operators will be onsite to manage traffic flows and delays are expected during peak hours. Work will take place from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Drivers are being asked to drive carefully and follow posted signs and directions.
