Florence drivers are getting a bit of a reprieve,

The Arizona Department of Transportation  has delayed the start of its pavement improvement project on SR-79.

It was set to start on Monday, June 3 but is now expected to start sometime in mid-June, a post on Florence's Facebook page stated on Friday.

The SR-79 Pavement Improvement Project runs from the CAP Canal Bridge to the Gila River Bridge.

During the project, there will be single/alternating-lane closures throughout various sections of the project area.

There will also be 25-mile-per-hour speed restrictions and 12-foot width restrictions.

Flagging operators will be onsite to manage traffic flows and delays are expected during peak hours. When the project does get underway, work will take place from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
