State Route 79 will be restricted in Florence as a pavement improvement project gets underway on Sunday.

Drivers should expect delays from the Fannin-McFarland Aqueduct at milepost 132 north of Salazar Street to Jason Lopez Circle at milepost 135 in Florence, a post on the town’s Facebook page stated.

Crews will work from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Sunday, July 21 through Friday, July 26. The remainder of the work will be completed from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday through Aug 25.

The heaviest delays are expected July 22 through July 27, while crews perform the milling and paving portion of the project.

    Drivers should prepare for:

    • A reduced speed limit of 25 mph
    • 12 foot width restriction
    • Flagging operation to help drivers navigate the area

This schedule is subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
