    Food Network Series ''America's Best Restaurants'' To Feature Greek Restaurant Located in Hamden

    New Haven County is back on the Food Network! An authentic Greek restaurant got a very special visit last month from the television series "America’s Best Restaurants" on the Food Network. The ABR Roadshow stopped by Freskos Greek Restaurant which is located at 2323 Whitney Avenue in Hamden, Connecticut on June 6, 2024. Freskos, which opened in 2016, is an award winning, fast-casual Greek restaurant. It was voted 'Best Greek Restaurant' in 2024 by Connecticut Magazine Reader's Poll.

    The popular Food Network series travels throughout the United States with a mission. They seek out local, independently-owned or family-owned restaurants. Highlighting the most popular items on their menus as well as speaking with the owners and staff about their business and what they offer their local communities.

    ''Freskos owner Peter Vouras told the roadshow he wants his family’s story in their episode. “Both my grandfathers owned restaurants,” Vouras told roadshow producers. “I would like to stress the family history. People like that story. We use my grandmother’s recipe for the avgolemono soup.” according to WTNH Connecticut.

    The restaurant is known for several mouth-watering dishes on their menu. Fresco's offers a delicious chicken souvlaki wrap, as well as $6 Gyro Mondays, authentic Greek salad, and a Fresco's specialty, Greek fries topped with lemon seasoning and feta cheese. They also offer authentic Greek desserts and coffee as well.
