(Updated) Wellington girls golf team wins third in Pre-State Tournament in Hesston
——— Sumner Newscow report — Yesterday afternoon, the Wellington girls’ golf team placed third in the Hesston Pre-State Tournament. The Crusaders got to see Wamego, Topeka Hayden, Winfield and McPherson – all teams they will possibly face in the state tournament next October if they do so qualify. The Crusaders placed third Thursday with a 353 score – or +73 to Par. Wamego won the tournament with a 343 (+63 to Par), and Topeka Hayden scored a 349 (+68 to Par). The full scoring is as follows:

Free national teen defensive driving program heads to Topeka
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)—B.R.A.K.E.S (Be Responsible And Keep Everyone Safe), a national teen defensive driving program, will visit Topeka in early Sept. B.R.A.K.E.S. has trained more than 140,000 teens and parents since the program was founded 16 years ago.
