Blacktail Canyon Fire slowly grows to 76 acres Monday evening with very hot perimeter
UPDATE: July 22 at 7:40 p.m. Crews were able to map the fire at 76 acres Monday evening, a slow increase from the acreage burned this morning. A Forest Service update says there is not so much smoke visible from this fire, however, residual heat remains high, especially along the edge of the fire perimeter.
Venture West Development Underway on 196-Acre Mixed-Use Project Near Bozeman, Montana
Belgrade, Mont. — Venture West Development is underway on Jackrabbit Crossing, a 196-acre mixed-use project in Belgrade, roughly 11 miles outside Bozeman. Rosauers Supermarkets, which recently signed a long-term lease, will anchor the property. Plans for the development, which is located three miles from the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, also include a proposed 53,000-square-foot Amazon distribution center.

Montana Man Sentenced For Assaulting Women On Crow And Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservations
A Lame Deer man who admitted to assaulting women on the Crow and Northern Cheyenne Indian reservations and to illegally possessing a sawed-off shotgun in two separate cases was sentenced on Wednesday, July 17th, to 21 years in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, according to U.S. Attorney Jesse Laslovich.

Butler Creek Fire — 7 miles northwest of Missoula. A new wildfire burning just north of Missoula is prompting evacuation orders and warnings.
