Downtown Orlando will host a Caribbean and carnival culture event from May 24 – 26, 2024. The event, planned by local organizers Guenet and Sam Roberts, includes a fashion show, party, parade, contests, and concerts. The goal is to introduce attendees to Caribbean culture in a fun and engaging way.

A key feature of the event is the 'Carnival on the Runway', a fashion and costume showcase. It will include student, emerging, and international fashion designers. The best design will be awarded a $3,000 cash prize. This event is scheduled for Friday, May 24, from 6 – 9 p.m. at Camping World Stadium in downtown’s West Lakes Market Street District.

Jouvert, a traditional pre-dawn street party common in many Caribbean countries, is another highlight. Participants engage in playful activities like throwing paint, powder, and water while dancing to Caribbean music. This event will take place at Tinker Field Historic Plaza on Saturday, May 25, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The 'Soca Anthropology: Back in Time Lime' event will feature The Vikings of Soca, Bunji Garlin & Fay-Ann Lyons. It will also include performances by steelpan orchestras, spoken word artists, and a variety of Caribbean food. This event is scheduled for Saturday, May 25, from 6 – 11 p.m. at Seneff Arts Plaza at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

The main event, the Orlando Carnival Downtown, will begin with a parade in downtown Orlando’s West Lakes district and conclude at Tinker Field Historic Plaza. The parade will feature handmade costumes, with judges selecting the Band of the Year, the King and Queen of the 2024 Orlando Carnival Downtown, the Truck of the Year, and the People’s Choice winners. The parade route is open for public viewing.
