The Democratic mayors representing Miami-Dade, Orlando, Tallahassee, and Fort Lauderdale have endorsed Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in her race for U.S. Senate against GOP incumbent Rick Scott.

“As a member of Congress, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell worked to bring federal funds to our state to restore our coral reefs and the Everglades, invest in the resiliency of our coastal communities, and protect our economic industries,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.

“Having worked with Debbie for years, I know she will be a fighter for all Floridians in the Senate and will always come to the table to deliver for Florida. I am proud to stand with her in her fight to build a brighter future in Florida and look forward to working together again.”

“I am excited to announce my endorsement for Debbie Mucarsel Powell to be the next U.S. senator from Florida,” added Orlando Mayor Jerry Demings. “Her experience as a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives, as a leader in higher education, and as a grassroots advocate for nonprofits makes her an ideal candidate.”

Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey and Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis also announced their support for Mucarsel-Powell in a statement provided by her campaign.

“I support Debbie Mucarsel-Powell because she brings the right philosophy and tireless commitment the job requires,” said Trantalis. “She will preserve Social Security and expand Medicare. She will be a great advocate for economic growth and the diverse needs of all our residents in the U.S. Senate.”

Mucarsel-Powell is scheduled to participate in an “Our Bodies Our Lives Rally” on Saturday morning in Miami with Levine Cava, FDP Chair Nikki Fried, and CNN commentator Ana Navarro. Later in the day, she’ll appear in Scott’s hometown of Naples for a rally with Rhode Island Democratic U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse.

I need to get the other big Medicaid cook off the public dole as well. Time to stop supporting the corrupt GOP in Florida.
