Did you know 1 in 7 people in the U.S. have HIV, and they don’t know it?

June 27th is National HIV Testing Day, and Planned Parenthood of South, East, and North Florida health centers is providing free HIV tests.

HIV tests are quick and painless; results can be ready in 20 minutes. The test allows people to know their status and gain access to vital health services.

More than 4,000 Floridians are diagnosed with HIV every year, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. About 13% of people in Florida living with HIV are unaware of their status.

Early detection through testing is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of HIV and to ensure those living with the virus lead healthy lives.

If you test positive for HIV, there are medicines you can take to help you stay healthy.

For free testing on June 27, you can walk into any Planned Parenthood health center. Or to make an appointment, visit plannedparenthood.org/planned-parenthood-south-east-north-florida/campaigns/free-hiv-testing-day-2024.
