Trump Makes 'First Time' Announcement About Barron At Florida Rally

Barron Trump , who at 18 is the youngest son of Donald Trump , made his political debut Tuesday night when the former president introduced him to a rally crowd in Florida.

“Barron Trump! This is the first time he’s ever done it, Barron,” Trump said and then asked for him to stand up.

Many in the crowd stood and cheered, including Eric Trump and MyPillow CEO and conspiracy theorist Mike Lindell . Donald Trump Jr ., seated nearby, applauded.

“That’s the first time he’s done it. That’s the first time, right?” Trump said. “You’re pretty popular, he might be more popular than Don and Eric, we gotta talk about this. Hey Don, we gotta talk about this.”

The former president called Barron “a very special guy” and said he got accepted by every college he wanted. Trump said his son had selected one but didn’t name it.

“So Barron, it’s good to have you. Welcome to the scene, Barron, I don’t know,” Trump said. “He had such a nice, easy life. Now, it’s a little bit changed. Anyway. Special guy, right?”

Barron, who was a child through Trump’s presidency, has been kept out of the spotlight.

There have been hints he may become a more visible campaign presence for his father since turning 18 in the spring. In May, the Florida Republican Party announced he would be one of the state’s at-large delegates at the Republican National Convention. However, Melania Trump ’s office quickly issued a statement saying he would not attend the event.

The former first lady has also remained largely out of the public eye for much of her husband’s campaign.
