Citrus County, FL - A high-speed chase involving a U-Haul van ended in a crash after the driver attempted to evade Florida deputies on a high speed chase.

The pursuit began when the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Michael Allen Pierce Jr., failed to stop for a traffic violation and reached speeds of nearly 80 mph.

Deputies deployed stop sticks, which disabled the U-Haul’s tires, but Pierce Jr. continued driving recklessly through the city.

The chase culminated in a crash after Pierce Jr. drove the U-Haul through a wooden fence and struck a tree.

He was apprehended on foot and arrested on multiple charges including fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, resisting arrest, and driving with a suspended license.
