Fort Myers, FL - The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is asking for the public's assistance to locate two men accused of a massive church donation scheme.

Authorities say 37-year-old Marius "Viorel" Dumitru and 30-year-old Marius Dumitru were apprehended in 2021 by the FDLE during "Operation Thou Shall Not Steal," but reportedly absconded before their trial.

The pair faces charges including racketeering conspiracy, grand theft, illegally possessing identification documents, and money laundering.

Authorities allege they stole over $761,000 from at least 680 churches nationwide, targeting houses of worship in Lee and Collier counties as well.

FDLE confirms the convictions of alleged co-conspirators 48-year-old Catalin Trandafir, 43-year-old Simona Trandafir, 35-year-old Panait Dumitru and 36-year-old Ionut Raducan.

Prior to their escape, Viorel and Marius were last seen in the Orlando area.

The FDLE is asking anyone with information to come forward by calling (239) 278-7170.
