Palm Beach Schools Back To An "A" Grade And Improvement Is Statewide

The Florida Department of Education is out with its school grades from the 2023-24 academic year. Almost 1,300 schools got an A. That's up six percent from the year before. Also, about a hundred fewer schools got a D or an F.

The grades are based on how students performed in several subjects, graduation rates and other factors.

The Palm Beach County School District is back to an "A." It had dropped to a B in the previous year after getting an "A" grade each year since 2018.

Indian River County schools also got an "A," while Martin County has a "B." As for specific school grades, no schools in Palm Beach, Martin or Indian River counties received an "F" grade.

Education Commissioner Manny Diaz Junior says the grades reflect the state's commitment to excellence in education. The latest report came out on the same day the Florida Board of Education approved an updated school grading scale.
