( NewsNation ) — Florida Democratic Party chair Nikki Fried says that the head of Project 2025 stepping down shows that “MAGA extremism is not what the people of this country want.”

Paul Dans, the former head of Project 2025, has stepped down amidst intense criticism, including some from former President Donald Trump. Dans previously worked as a top official in Trump’s administration.

Fried told “ NewsNation Now ” that Project 2025 is Trump’s plan for a second administration.

“When people woke up and saw what another term of Donald Trump was going to look like people are rejecting it,” Fried said. “But people also need to know this is Donald Trump’s Project 2025.”

Trump has continually tried to distance himself from Project 2025, but dozens who worked closely with him are involved.

“This is Donald Trump’s Project 2025. All the people that wrote the 900 pages either were a part of his previous administration or people that are super close to him,” Fried said. “He’s talked about it before it became a negative for him.”
