Melbourne and Eau Gallie end seasons in softball regional finals

Melbourne and Eau Gallie were both defeated on the road in FHSAA softball regional final games Friday night.

The Region 3-6A final between No. 1 Bartow and No. 2 Melbourne went to extra innings after seven scoreless innings. Bartow scored the winning run in the eighth inning to win 1-0.

Melbourne closes out the season undefeated against Brevard County opponents and with a record of 29-1. The Bulldogs also repeated as Cape Coast Conference champions and won the District 11-6A championship.

In Region 2-4A, No 3. Eau Gallie fell to No. 1 Eustis 6-2 in the regional final. Heather Rue contributed the two RBIs that led to the Commodores' two runs.

Eau Gallie ends the season with a record of 17-7 and as winner of the District 8-4A championship.
