Moran Wealth Management, LLC, a fee-only investment management firm based in Naples, is supporting local students as it partners with the new SWFL Flight Crew. As the first-ever Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) collective for a Florida Gulf Coast University sports team, the student athlete-focused program aims to strengthen the lasting legacy of FGCU men’s basketball while making a difference within the Southwest Florida community.

As a corporate sponsor, Moran Wealth will help fulfill the SWFL Flight Crew’s mission of building a support network for FGCU student athletes. In mid-2021, the NCAA permitted student athletes to earn compensation for their NIL for the very first time. Through one-hour education sessions organized in the Spring and Fall semesters of this year, Moran Wealth’s trusted advisors aim to provide the athletes with vital knowledge, specifically designed to empower them to make informed decisions regarding their financial futures. The firm will also be recognized as the official financial educator for the Flight Crew and team athletes.

Ryan Frank of Moran Wealth Management speaks to the FGCU men’s basketball team as the school’s first-ever Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) program that the school has launched.

“As FGCU’s student athletes begin to market themselves, our team looks forward to joining them with financial resources that will help them maximize their potential,” said Thomas Moran, AIF, chairman, CEO, and CIO of Moran Wealth Management. “The NIL collective is so powerful and really enriches the community as a whole. Through appearances, social media engagement, and partnerships with local businesses and charities, the student athletes are given the opportunity to positively impact the community while also realizing the full potential of their personal brands.”

The SWFL Flight Crew is part of Moran Wealth Management’s overall continued commitment to fostering growth and empowerment in local students. This includes its sponsorship of FGCU’s Bloomberg Terminal Lab and the recently named Moran Wealth Management Classroom. By way of the firm’s team members’ top expertise and ongoing passion, students continue to receive access to financial resources, designed to prepare them for life both during their college years and after graduation.

“When a freshman student-athlete arrives on the FGCU campus for the first day of classes, they are instantly an entrepreneur running their own NIL business,” said Timothy Cartwright, chair of the SWFL Flight Crew.” They have yet to take one business class, yet they have the potential to make money or are already making money. Moran Wealth, who can teach practical money management and financial literacy skills, is such a valuable partner in helping the Flight Crew deliver impactful business and life skills to young FGCU student-athletes.”
