Thirty-one competitors took part in the annual Key Lime Pie Drop. The event calls for homemade devices carrying a 5-inch Key Lime pie to be dropped 88 feet from the observation deck of the historic lighthouse. The trick is to keep the pie from exploding on impact.

“Bearly There,” a giant stuffed bear tied with chicken wire, bubble wrap and zip ties, took the prize for “Most Entertaining.”

The Grand Prize trophy was awarded to an entry titled “The Best Homemade Pie Drop Entry Ever,” which was created out of a laundry basket, water balloons, and a bubble-blowing toy lawn mower.

The creative and gravity-defying competition is part of the annual Key Lime Festival. Next year’s festival is set for July 3 -7, 2025. ¦
