A man who posted popular videos on TikTok documenting his romantic life and relationship with his girlfriend is under arrest and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after police in Texas say Ladarius Morshun Brownlee shot Seyeddah “Zahra” Hashemi in the face, leaving her alive but with life-threatening injuries.

In a statement from police on Facebook, officers said the shooting occurred close to 1 a.m. on July 5. Brownlee also faces three charges of deadly misconduct – discharge firearm according to Denton County jail records. A bond of $900,00 was set for the Northlake, Texas, resident and he remains detained as of Thursday. It is unclear if he has retained an attorney.

Local ABC affiliate WFAA reported that Brownlee confessed to shooting Hashemi on the 911 call that first brought police to the scene on July 5.

The woman was shot in the face above her right eye after the couple allegedly got into a “heated argument.” WFAA reported that witnesses said the couple were arguing as they were leaving an Independence Day festival at a Bakersfield Park in Flower Mound. The couple allegedly got into a physical altercation before getting in their car and then, driving less than three miles from the park, Brownlee stopped the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer SUV he was driving and shot Hashemi after brandishing the gun at passengers in the rear of the vehicle, police said.

They had a following of little over 155,000 as of Thursday. Witnesses to the shooting described the couple’s relationship as tumultuous and at times, physically violent, the Dallas News reported.
